Filmmaking/Production Class
A practical introduction to filmmaking with examples from contemporary Spanish Films.
Students work on their personal style and tone as storytellers by shooting their own films.
(Spanish Majors do some assignments in Spanish)
Summary:
The principles of directing a film. Students will put into practice the tasks of a filmmaker: write the script of a shortfilm (fiction, documentary or experimental), prepare the mise-en-scene, shoot and edit the work.
Film examples: Scenes and movies from Contemporary Spanish Cinema.

The overall class grade will be approximately broken down as follows:
Participation 10% Writing assignments 10-20%* Collaborating in others’ shootings 20%
