Dance Composition II

Dance composition in relation to music. Emphasis on solos and small groups. Prerequisite: DANCE 166. Offered: W.

Class description

The primary goal of this class is to continue to awaken and expand one's creativity. This class will explore the elements of time and structure in dance composition, and awaken one's temporal perception. Students will continue to identify and develop their own personal movement vocabularies while familiarizing themselves to choreographic structural devices in tandem with musical structures. There are many choreographic structural devices that derived from musical parallels; the study of music can help a choreographer pay closer attention to structure in their own creative projects.
