Studies of emerging areas and specialized topics in computer science.
This course surveys some of the hot topics in the field of computer security. Topics may include: usability; DRM; electronic voting; security for ubiquitous devices, including RFIDs; phishing; spyware; botnets; information leakage, fingerprinting, and sidechannel attacks; biometrics; and methods for involving humans in security protocols (like CAPTCHAs). Since security involves a delicate balance between attacker and defender, we will study these topics from both sides of the security arms race.
