Intelligent Transportation Systems

Application of modern computer and communication technologies to transportation systems. Benefits to public agencies, commercial companies, and travelers. Coordination between private and public sectors. Intelligent Transportation System's (ITS) social, organizational, and operational changes.

Class description

A graduate level class that will present an overview of ITS. In addition to discussing the basic technical problems associated with ITS, the class will discuss the institutional, political, and jurisdictional constraints to ITS implementation. The class will also discuss the influence of ITS on modern transportation system performance and planning.
