Class description

Tropical Ecology The goal of this course is to provide an understanding of the factors and mechanisms that operate within tropical ecosystems and influence biodiversity patterns, as well as examining species interactions that are crucial for the functioning of tropical communities. Students will have an opportunity to conduct a short research project with real data through a unique partnership with researchers working in the field, as well as to improve their ability of summarizing primary literature and communicating science to a variety of audiences. The course is mainly focused on Neotropical ecosystems but general comparisons with other tropical regions will be discussed.
