Development of mature and personal statement within context of the print form through studio practice and group discussion and critique. Processes and media emphasis varies on a revolving basis.
Class description
The focus of this course will be Intaglio Printmaking.
Students will design,etch and engrave on copper or zinc plates. We will cover the history of printmaking along with black and white and color printing methods. Students will learn how to use the press while creating their own personal forms of expression. Some drawing experience is helpful although not required.

General method of instruction
Seminar type discussions, demonstrations and lectures, group critiques and individual critiques. Hands on experience.
Recommended preparation
Basic drawing is helpful along with other print related experience.
Class assignments and grading
Assignments designed around etching and printing copper or zinc plates.
Completion of projects, progress and participation in class and technical ability.
