Construction Materials and Assemblies I

Lectures and readings pertaining to a survey of residential and light-commercial construction materials, assemblies, and techniques of assembly.

Class description

This course progresses through the development of buildings under construction. First, the students begin with soils and foundations. Second, they continue with structural elements in wood, brick, concrete and steel. Third, they become familiar with exterior cladding and roofing systems. Fourth, they gain an awareness of interior finish components as well as installation and coordination issues.
