Based on data collected form their primary or secondary research internship/field research, write a capstone paper which frames project conceptual issues, its research findings, and produces a critical analysis of a policy issue. Represents the second stage of the Capstone project.
Class description
The last core course in the Master of Arts in Policy Studies is devoted to final preparation of the capstone project. Students will meet regularly to share research findings, read chapters, and address problems and issues of final presentation. The course culminates in the final presentation tan audience of peers, faculty, outside site supervisors, and interested scholars and community practitioners.
Student learning goals
The primary objective of the course is to assist the student in the final completion of the capstone project.
Other objectives include the sharing of information and knowledge gained in the research with other students and faculty and the preparation of students for the world of policy work.
General method of instruction
Directed research.
Recommended preparation
Students should be near their final version of the capstone project to make maximum use of Capstone supervisor's direction and mentoring.
Class assignments and grading
Grades will be assigned on the basis of ongoing work submission, student conference presentation, and final capstone manuscript.
