Perspectives on Curriculum Integration

Explores various means of developing integrative curriculum. Develops familiarity with existing methods of integrating curriculum and, by expanding the understanding of integration, to develop new methods. Studies approaches to integration within a single subject and between subjects will be developed into useable plans.

Class description

It will cover various methods of integration and instruction in the development of an integrated unit of study.

Student learning goals

Students will: Reflect on their current classroom practices,

Expand core knowledge

Become familiar with existing methods of integrating curriculum

Be able to apply the understanding of integration to the development of integrated curriculum

General method of instruction

Class discussion, readings, practice, ongoing curriculum development

Recommended preparation

Interest in the development of an integrated curriculum unit for use in a classroom.

Readings, core knowledge assignment, lesson development, written curriculum unit
