How to Survive the June 5th NIH Grants.gov Submission Deadline

    • 1. Start Early, Submit Early

    For successful submission, all final business documents and (draft) science must be complete for departmental, college and OSP review and submitted prior to the sponsor deadlines as follows:

    • SOM - 15 business days prior (May 14th, 2007 for June 5th, 2007 deadline)
    • OSP - 10 business days prior (May 21th, 2007 for June 5th, 2007 deadline)

    Final science must be submitted to OSP 5 business days prior to sponsor deadline (May 29th, 2007 for June 5th, 2007 deadline).

    Items to consider early

  • Meet with your PIs early to determine business/ administrative documents
  • Verify PI eligibility. See SOM eligibility requirements
  • Determine budget
  • Obtain relevant subcontract materials early
  • Gather needed consultant letters and biosketches
  • When cost-sharing, fillout the eGC1 addendum and provide back-up documents
