Compliance Questions: Animal Use

General Information

Compliance questions are asked to:

Identify special considerations in this application and bring them to the attention of reviewers
Provide information necessary for the UW approval process
Provide information that may help campus unit and central office approvers to review your application quickly

Each yes/no question must be answered, and each question answered "yes" will require additional information or explanation. Some answers will also cause an approver or watcher to be added to the Signature Page or Approval Graph.

Animal Use	Answer "yes" if UW personnel or non-UW personnel will be working with animal subjects as part of this proposal, subcontract or contracted services. Answer "yes" if animal subjects will be used with a non-UW protocol. Just-in-Time (JIT) rules postpone approval until sometime prior to the award. There are a set of JIT rules for animal subjects compliance (modified 2/08). The Animal Subjects box on the graph disappears when the rule is applied. JIT review required - Pre-Applications, New Applications, Competing Revision, Resubmission, Competing Renewal, Competing Supplement. Full review required - Transfer, Non-Competing Revision, Non-Competing Renewal, Supplement and Extension, Non-Competing Supplement. NOTE: If the sponsor requires full review and approval by the Animal Welfare Office (IACUC), and the JIT rule has been applied, use the " Add Approver" function to add "Animal Subjects" back onto the graph.
