Application Documents Information

General Information

There are several questions on the Attachments page which indicate whether a paper or electronic submission process to the sponsor will be used and if the electronic sponsor file is in draft or final form. The answers provided will significantly impact the review and submission process by OSP.

For Electronic Submissions - If either "yes" via Grants.gov or "yes" via online sponsor system is selected, then the Ready to Submit question will appear below it. If either "yes" via PI/research group or "no" is selected, then the Ready to Submit question will not appear.

Paper Documents

When any paper documents (sponsor or internal for UW) will be delivered to OSP for this application, please answer "yes" to this question.

Requirements for providing sponsor documents to OSP and campus units may be different. Please provide paper copies of the application to campus units if requested.

 

Sponsor Documents

Please identify how your application will reach the sponsor. The sponsor instuctions will state how your application should be submitted.

  • Yes, by OSP via Grants.gov - select this answer for all applications using the federal Grants.gov portal.
  • Yes, by OSP via online sponsor system - select this answer when using a sponsor system that requires OSP to do the actual "submission" process. For example: NSF Fastlane, eRA Commons, HRSA Electronic Handbook, and RAMS ProposalCentral.
  • Yes, by the PI/research group - select this answer when your application will be submitted electronically from a system that requires the PI to do the actual "submission" process. For example, sponsor websites that require the application to be uploaded and sent (without being saved). Whenever possible, OSP prefers to submit electronic applications; please contact your OSP Administrator to coordinate this.
  • No - select this answer when the sponsor application will not be submitted electroncially in any fashion. Usually this means that paper documents will be signed and mailed to the sponsor.

If either "yes" via Grants.gov or "yes" via online sponsor system is selected, then the Ready to Submit question will appear below it. If either "yes" via PI/research group or "no" is selected, then the Ready to Submit question will not appear.

Ready to Submit

The user identifies if the attached sponsor documents are ready to be submitted to the sponsor. Answer "no" to route the eGC1 and draft sponsor documents for internal UW approvals. If the answer is "no", then OSP will not submit the application online. If the answer is "yes", then OSP may upload these documents once they have completed their review process.

This question will only appear if the Sponsor Documents question is answered "yes, by OSP via Grants.gov" or "yes, by OSP via online sponsor system".
