UW Mechanisms for Submission to Grants.gov

Average: 5 (2 votes)

The Federal Office of Management and Budget, which dictates the processes used by federal grant-making agencies, is replacing paper applications with electronic submissions through the Grants.gov portal. All 26 federal grant-making agencies have made this transition, switching, in the process, to one of six sets of standard forms all under the SF424 umbrella. The set assigned to research projects is SF424 Research and Related (R&R).

At the UW, SF424 preparation, completion and submission via Grants.gov can happen in one of two ways:

  • Automatically, using Grant Runner in SAGE
  • Manually, by downloading the application from Grants.gov, editing it using Adobe Reader, and then submitting it to Grants.gov (via the Office of Sponsored Programs - OSP)

See Criteria for Grants.gov Submission Mechanisms at the UW to determine whether your submission needs can be met by an automated submission using Grant Runner or manual submission via the Grants.gov portal.
