The Scholars Program is designed to support one-quarter of scholarship release time for 10 to 20 faculty members per year. To be eligible, the applicant must teach at least four regular and substantial courses per year; independent study and dissertation supervision are not included. The awards always include the department's real teaching replacement costs and may also include research support. Although request for release time support has typically come most strongly from the humanities, arts and social sciences, all faculty are eligible.
