For-profit entities are not eligible to apply for Commercialization grant funding. For-profit entities are eligible for LSDF PreCede grant competitions, with the next competition expected to be announced later this summer. The Request for Proposals (RFP), application instructions, and other key documents for the Commercialization grant competition will be posted on the LSDF website (http://www.lsdfa.org/) no later than May 7, 2012. LSDF will hold public information sessions in May and early June 2012 to describe the competition in greater detail. The information session schedule will be posted on the LSDF website as it is available. Pre-proposals are required and must be received via LSDF’s online application system no later than July 6, 2012, 5 PM Pacific Time. A panel of commercial experts will evaluate each pre-proposal and provide written feedback. Principal investigators will be required to meet briefly with the panel during the week of August 6, 2012 to discuss the commercial opportunity and their research plans. The deadline for full proposal submission is September 12, 2012, 5 PM Pacific Time. Full proposals will be evaluated according to commercial potential, scientific and technical merit, and the ability to advance LSDF’s primary strategic goals for Washington – improving health and health care, stimulating economic activity, and promoting life sciences competitiveness.
