Faculty Grants Management

The Faculty General Workshop covers the most recent information on the grants management process, from preparation of a grant proposal to fiscal report preparation through final audit. The General Workshop is continually updated as new compliance and audit issues arise. Presenters review the principal investigator's role and responsibility for administering sponsored agreements, explain established policies and procedures, and provide an overview of the central support services available to the principal investigator.

Topics include: Proposal and Award Process, Grants Information Memoranda, Electronic Initiatives in the Office of Sponsored Programs, Federal Audit Focus, Common Audit Findings, Compliance: Salaries/Personnel, Purchased Goods/Services; Costing Policy, Departmental and PI Responsibilities, Resources.

Fundamentals of Grant and Contract Management

This course is designed for individuals with limited experience in the administration of sponsored projects at the UW. Content covers basic administrative requirements, pre-award to post-award, for conducting sponsored research at the UW to include: UW research policies and procedures for compliance, costing policy and budgeting, description of award provisions and range of acceptable terms, and basics of award administration.

Grants.gov: The Basics

This course is an introduction to and a foundation for understanding the electronic submission process for proposals requesting federal funding. The course is intended for members of the UW research community who may be new to the process of grants administration at the UW or who may need a refresher course. Course content covers the UW approval process, an overview of the Grants.gov submission process and "hands on" practice completing sponsor required forms using a basic NIH proposal model. SAGE 101 is recommended as a prerequisite for this course.

Onsite Training

Onsite training is available, by request, for groups of 3-10 people. To facilitate this "hands on" class experience, a conference room large enough for the class, computers with Internet access for each student and a projector are required.
