ORIS's Learning function provides learning solutions to support users of ORIS programs, currently including instructor-led classes and online eLearning.

the SAGE Suite

the SAGE Suite logo

The SAGE Suite is the web-based system for supporting electronic Research Administration (eRA) at the University of Washington. The suite is comprised of three systems - SAGE, SPÆRC, and SERA - three views of a single database. Faculty, administrators, and staff submit funding applications and request advance budget numbers via SAGE. The Office of Sponsored Programs tracks and approves these requests via SPÆRC. The Grant and Contract Accounting office handles post-award functionality via SERA. Investigators disclose their Significant Financial Interests via FIDS.

Through collaboration with various local institutions, the DORA suite was developed to electronically manage IRB applications. It provides IRB professionals with a database solution that tracks IRB submissions, reviews, and reporting.

The Web Information Services team aims to ensure that the UW is a great place to do research by

  • Developing tools that provide timely, accurate, and accessible research administration information,
  • Continually seeking better methods for delivering and managing online content,
  • Promoting the accomplishments of the UW research community, and
  • Streamlining administrative tasks for Office of Research units.

Hosted Services

The Infrastructure Engineering and Support program provides desktop, laptop, and server hosting services, both engineering and support, to the Office of Research and its sub-units. This program also provides infrastructure consultation to UW departments that support research administration.

The program is divided into two primary services areas: Business Operations and Development Operations. The Business Operations service area provides engineering and administration of the systems that support core business operations in the Office of Research and its sub-units. The Development Operations service area provides engineering and administration of the systems that support software development operations in the Office of Research Information Services.
