Subject: i6 Challenge Conference Call

Dear Small Business Research Community,

The i6 Challenge conference call for potential applicants is rapidly approaching!  The call will be at 2pm EDT/11am PDT on Monday, May 17, 2010.

I hope you will be able to participate to learn more about this new opportunity.

What is the i6 Challenge?

The i6 Challenge is a new $12 million innovation competition, led by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA), in partnership with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and National Science Foundation (NSF).  EDA will award up to $1 million to six winning teams with the most innovative ideas to drive technology commercialization and entrepreneurship in their regions.  NIH and NSF will award a total of up to $6 million in additional funding to their Small Business Innovation Research grantees associated with winning teams.

We encourage entrepreneurs, investors, universities, foundations, and non-profits to participate in the i6 Challenge.  The deadline for applications is July 15, 2010.

The Federal Funding Opportunity is posted at: http://www.eda.gov/PDF/i6%20Challenge%20FFO%20FINAL%204-30-10.pdf

What information can I find out on the call?

The i6 Challenge Team will provide an overview of the i6 Challenge and answer questions.  On the day of the call, we will post the presentation on the i6 Challenge site: www.eda.gov/i6call.

How can I register?

To register for this conference call, please submit your name, title, organization, phone number, and any questions to i6@doc.gov. Please put “Registration” in the subject line.

We encourage you to submit your questions to i6@doc.gov in advance.

I look forward to your participation on the call.

Best regards,

Jo Anne
