Definition
A Certification on the Handling and Use of Export Controlled Information is an internal UW compliance document signed by a UW employee and approved by the Office of Sponsored Programs. It acts as certification from the individual receiving export-controlled information that they have read and understand the export control regulations.
Purpose
A Certification on the Handling and Use of Export Controlled Information is required when a UW employee receives export-controlled information from an outside party, such as via a nondisclosure agreement, and intends to receive such information on behalf of the University. Any receipt of export controlled information by a UW employee under an NDA must ensure the NDA is signed by the appropriate University office prior to receiving the information.
