NSF Issues FAQs on Recovery Act Expenditure ‘Acceleration’
The National Science Foundation has posted a dozen questions and answers to help institutions and investigators comply with OMB’s September 2011 directive that all Recovery Act funds be expended by Sept. 30, 2013. The directive applies to all federal agencies and also affects cooperative agreements. NSF will submit requests for more time to OMB but only for those projects that meet certain criteria, the agency explains. In addition, grantees should currently be engaged in “responsible acceleration” of their expenditures, a term the FAQ defines.
