Suspension or Termination of IRB Approval

Purpose

Federal regulations give the UW Institutional Review Boards (IRB) the authority to suspend or terminate approval of some or all human subjects research activities, according to criteria based on non-compliance, or serious risk of harm to subjects or others. In some circumstances, the Human Subjects Division may also suspend IRB approval, per authority granted by the UW Vice Provost for Research. This policy applies to all human subjects research, regardless of funding.
