What
is involved?
Applying
for accreditationprimarily
involves the conduct
of anin-depth
self-assessment.
During this process:
- Policies
and procedures
will be reviewed,
revised, and
formally adopted.
- A list and
copies of all
supporting
documents will
become Sections
C and D of
the application.
- The application
form and a
comprehensive
description
of the UW Human
Research Protection
Program complete
the application.

Who
participates?
An
Accreditation
Team of Human
Subjects Division
(HSD) staff,
lead by Karen
Moe, Assistant
Director, will
have primary
responsibility
for developing
the application
and shepherding
the process.
All
HSD staff will
participate
at various stages
of the process,
as will IRB
Committee members
and a broad range
of groups and
individuals
who are involved in the UW HRPP.

How will information
be shared?
The ability
for all accreditation
stakeholders to obtain
information and to
provide input is
of paramount importance.
The flow of information
will need to be timely,
effective, and efficient.
To facilitate this
process, multiple options
will be available for the exchange of information.
Use what works best for you. Let the Accreditation
Team know if there is something that we
can do better or differently.
- Web-based information
will provideaccess
to announcements,
documents,timelines,
and online
discussion 24/7.
- Email and E-News
will be used fortargeted
communication:
to makeannouncements;
provide instructionsand
updates; and
selected exchangeof
documents for review.
- Posted and Bindered
Information
will beavailable
at HSD to provide
hard-copy ofdocuments,
announcements, timelines,and
other accreditation
information.
- Meetings will serve
as a natural
place todisseminate
information; discuss
activities,progress,
and options;
gather feedback;and
make group-based
decisions.
