Meet, Share & Learn at the 2013 NIH Regional Seminar on Program Funding and Grants Administration - Note: Early Registration Rates End March 25!
Baltimore Orioles fans are not the only ones heading to Baltimore, Maryland this summer. Nor are they coming just because of the recent Super Bowl win by the Baltimore Ravens! Approximately 35 NIH and HHS extramural research experts, as well as approximately 600 attendees from around the world, will be coming together to participate in the 2013 NIH Regional Seminar on Program Funding and Grants Administration:
June 27-29, 2013 Baltimore, MD (“Early Registration Rate” available through March 25!)
Note: This year, there will be only one NIH Regional Seminar offered so don’t miss this opportunity! Another one won’t occur until spring or summer 2014!
Who should attend and what kind of program is offered? Presentations are primarily targeted towards attendees new to the NIH grants process, seeking information on the grants process, resources and contacts. However, there are sessions for more experienced attendees wanting learn the latest news that NIH senior leadership and policy officials have to share. Session “tracks” allow administrators and researchers to easily identify the topics of interest. (Agendas are available on the Regional Seminar’s “Program” Web page.)
-New grants administrators should gain valuable information from sessions such as: NIH Top Ten (NIH Fundamentals), After the Award is Made…Then What?, eRA Commons, Budget Basics, A Walk Through the SF424 (R&R), Interacting Electronically with NIH, and so many more!
-Sessions of interest to postdocs, grad students, new and early stage investigators attending the NIH Regional Seminars might be: Grant Writing for Success, NIH Peer Review, Mapping Your Career with NIH (including New & Early Stage Investigators, Career Development Timeline, NIH Loan Repayment, and more), and NIH Peer Review Process. (Check out this year’s special discount available for Graduate Students, PreDoctoral and PostDoctoral trainees located on the Regional Seminar’s “Registration” Web page.)
-For more senior faculty and administrators, there will be sessions such as Advanced Administrative Topics, Current Issues at NIH, Rock Talk with Dr. Sally Rockey, Research Integrity, Common Compliance Pitfalls & Strategies for Success, Understanding Research Project Grants, how to prepare a NIH training grant application or a career award application, as well as how to effectively communicate your program to reviewers.
-Topics of special interest to all may be ClinicalTrials.gov, Data Sharing & Intellectual Property, SBIR/STTR program, R15 AREA awards, research involving animals and humans, Public Access, etc.
In addition to the formal presentations, NIH and HHS experts will be on hand during breaks and the lunch hour for you to get your questions answered. That means 2 full days of sessions, networking opportunities and valuable expertise around every corner. There’s also an optional opportunity for an eRA Workshop on the day prior to the seminar. Reserve your space today and don’t miss the best rates for both the seminar and the hotel! Note: Food will not be provided during the optional eRA Workshop day or the 2-day seminar, but there are many local options.
We hope to see you there and don’t forget to share the news with your peers who could also benefit from the NIH Regional Seminars experience! (In addition to this message, flyers can be downloaded and posted to your institution’s intranet or bulletin boards from the seminar Website, and don’t forget to pass along the information using the Share This Event icons from the site’s home page!)
