This FOA solicits applications to participate in the Autoimmunity Centers of Excellence (ACE) program, a cooperative network intended to improve the understanding and treatment of autoimmune diseases (www.autoimmunitycenters.org). The ACE program was founded on the premise that collaboration among basic and clinical scientists can accelerate both fundamental and applied research. For this reissuanc, the formerly integrated Centers are divided into Basic and Clinical research programs. This FOA solicits applications for the Clinical research program; a companion FOA solicits applications for the Basic research program. The members of the Basic and Clinical ACE will work together to design and conduct studies of mechanisms of action of immune-modulating agents tested in clinical trials. A program director/principal investigator (PD/PI) may NOT apply to both this ACE Clinical program FOA and the companion Basic program FOA
Please submit a two-page letter of intent with a list of all anticipated investigators, description of proposed aims and approach, Biosketch of the PI, and a letter of support from the Dean or Chair to firstname.lastname@example.org by Thursday, March 14, 2013. This letter of support signifies that the Dean or Chair have ensured the nominee’s eligibility per the sponsor’s requirements, and that the nominee and application are likely to be of sufficient quality to be competitive nationally. Full applications are due to the sponsor on 6/13/13, so you will need to have your materials in to the Office of Sponsored Programs by 6/6/13 for processing if given the go ahead by the review committee.
Investigators who identify a grant, award or fellowship program that restricts the number of applications that can be submitted from an Institution should immediately contact their Chairperson, Associate Dean for Research (or Dean, if no ADR) and the Office of Research (see below) if they intend to prepare a response. Failure to do so, or to meet the deadlines for submission of pre-proposal, will preclude submission of the application through the Office of Sponsored Programs.
For general inquiries, or to request a listing of a limited submission opportunity that should be but is not already listed, please email us at email@example.com.
