Olympic Natural Resources Center
- Description
- The Olympic
Natural Resources Center was created by the Washington
State Legislature "...to foster and support the research and
education necessary to provide sound scientific information on
which to base sustainable forest and marine industries, and at
the same time, sustain the ecological values..." The award
winning facility has been fully functional since the summer of
1995. Biological, physical, and social scientists are
cooperating on projects focused around the Center's strategic
research and program priorities. A strong association with
forest and marine resource managers along with the communities
that depend upon them creates an emphasis on applied research.
The Center's education programs include technical and
professional information transfer and bringing university
resources to local education institutions. The forest and
marine resources of the Olympic Peninsula area the main focus
of the work at the Center.
