With faculty colleagues and students, I am initiating new research on the responses of marine organisms and ecosystems to ocean acidification and associated stressors. Much of this work will be performed at the Friday Harbor Laboratories, where we are building a facility for the study of ocean acidification and establishing a center for the study of ecology of the changing ocean. A second theme of my research is testing the application of ecological theory to marine environmental policy and management.
