In my “Bioenergy and Biochemicals Lab” we work on separation of lignocellulosic biomass into the main components: cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin via various process; including pulping and steam pretreatmentaIn addition, we are develop processes to convert these biomass derived chemicals into high value products. The fractionated natural products are converted into biofuels and biochemicals via enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation. We also work on the development of the high throughput analytical method methods for measuring the progress of biomass to biochemicals conversion.
