Dr. Karr's epidemiological studies focus on common sources of air pollution in children, such as characterizing individual's exposure to traffic derived emissions, industrial point sources, agricultural factors, and biomass burning such as woodsmoke. These exposures are analyzed in relation to risk of development of common child health outcomes including asthma, respiratory infections, and low birthweight.
