This presentation will start by describing what animal use requires approval from the UW Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). You will receive information on where to get help regarding different aspects of work involving animals, including the IACUC process, training, animal ordering and maintenance, and veterinary care.

    Nona Phillips, PhD, is currently the Director of the Office of Animal Welfare and the Executive Secretary of the IACUC at the University of Washington. Dr. Phillips received her Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology, with a minor in Animal Behavior, in 1984 from the University of Washington. Dr. Phillips' post-doctoral training included two years as a Fellow in the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Washington. Her research addressed the use of non-human primate models for investigating the potential perinatal effects of anti-epileptic compounds.
