International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH)

The International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH) is a global network that works with local partners to develop skilled health care workers and strong national health systems in resource-limited countries. I-TECH promotes local ownership to sustain effective health systems.

Core Services Offered

The I-TECH Center is a collection of compatible grants and contracts, each led by a UW faculty member, that address a broad set of capacity development activities and interventions to support strong health delivery systems in more than 20 countries. These activities include designing clinical mentoring and decision support systems, strengthening pre-service training institutions, designing and implementing quality improvement initiatives, creating laboratory and medical information systems, strengthening capacity of countries to collect and use health information data in all levels of health system, and training and mentoring of health leaders and managers.

Other activities of the I-TECH Center include interventions that strengthen health services, testing and counseling programs related to infectious diseases, voluntary medical male circumcision services for purposes of reducing risk of HIV infection, tuberculosis and TB/HIV coinfection services, prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, and e-learning and distance learning initiatives.
