Mission

The mission for the Center for AIDS and STD is to prevent transmission of HIV and other sexually transmitted infection, and to reduce human suffering caused by these infections.

To pursue this mission, the Center represents the UW in supervising the Pacific Northwest region's largest AIDS and STD clinical, training, and education programs, in concert with UW and affiliated hospitals and the Seattle-King County Department of Public Health, providing direct support for basic and clinical research and international technical assistance through its federally funded centers for research and technical assistance. In addition, the Center coordinates AIDS and STD related clinical, research, and prevention activities.
