Kaitlyn Zhou

Kaitlyn Zhou is an incoming master’s student at the Allen School of Computer Science and Engineering. She holds a B.S. and a B.S.E. in Computer Science and Human Centered Design and Engineering. Last summer, she worked at Twitter in San Francisco on the data science team. In the past, she has worked in New York City with Bloomberg L.P. as a software engineer.

As an undergraduate at UW, Kaitlyn has served on the Board of Directors for ASUW as the director of university affairs, curated for TEDxUofW, and founded and chaired the computer science and engineering student advisory council where she worked with school leaders to research and program initiatives focused on diversity efforts, student wellness, and social responsibility.

Academically, she has studied with Professor Kate Starbird and Emma Spiro researching misinformation online at the EmCOMP lab. She has co-authored published papers on the uncertainty and permutations of online rumoring and contributed to a successful NSF grant proposal. She has also worked as a teaching assistant for courses in data visualization and statistics.

Kaitlyn grew up in Ottawa, Canada and is fluent in English, French, and Mandarin. She graduated from Inglemoor High School and her family currently resides in Bellevue, Washington.
