Regent Sally Jewell


Jewell photo Sally Jewell is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI). REI is the nation's largest consumer cooperative, providing gear and clothing for active outdoor adventures through over 100 stores across the U.S. and its website, www.rei.com. Prior to joining REI, she spent 19 years in the commercial banking industry.

Regent Jewell began her professional career as an engineer for Mobil Oil Corporation in Oklahoma and Colorado. She graduate from the University of Washington in 1978 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

In addition to her role as a Regent of the University of Washington, Sally Jewell also serves on several other corporate and non-profit boards including the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust, REI, the National Parks Conservation Association and the Initiative for Global Development, a group comprised of local civic and business leaders which is urging the U.S. Government to increase the level of foreign assistance spending to combat global poverty.
