Regent Ben Golden

Picture not yet available

Ben Golden is in his second year at the University of Washington School of Law.  As an undergraduate student at UW, Ben served as ASUW’s Director of Government Relations and managed a state legislative campaign.  He also wrote a column for The Daily, was involved in the Save Darfur divestment campaign, served in residence hall leadership, and won four consecutive intramural softball championships.  Ben graduated magna cum laude and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa, earning a B.A. with Honors in Political Science and minors in History, International Studies, and Human Rights.

Upon graduation, Ben found jobs that allowed him to travel around the world.  In Ghana, he conducted research on diffusion of new technologies, micro-finance, and distribution channels, which led to the creation of a micro-franchise specializing in rechargeable batteries.  At Salzburg Global Seminar, Ben helped organize and facilitate a conference chaired by Kofi Annan about the African Green Revolution.  Ben also taught English in Taiwan and South Africa, volunteered on a farm in Nicaragua, and studied “leadership in democracies” in Greece.  Additionally, he traveled through India, Sri Lanka, Israel, Turkey, and Europe.

As a graduate student, Ben works with the Entrepreneurial Law Clinic and is pursuing a certificate in International Development Policy and Management through the Evans School.  He interned at the Appellate Unit of the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and serves on the Board of UW’s International Law Society and American Constitution Society.  Ultimately, Ben hopes to apply his experiences and skills toward creating new solutions for alleviating global poverty.
