Office of the Provost Special Programs

The Office of Special Programs offers a number of campus services including the administration of the academic integrity program, the Use of University Facilities program, authorization to apply for a banquet permit to serve alcoholic beverages, and the Parent and Family Resource and Referral Service. In addition, the Special Assistant serves faculty and staff by providing assistance on a variety of student-related issues. This includes helping instructors assess problematic student behavior, and determining when and how to intervene.

Gus Kravas is a counseling psychologist who has also served as the director of counseling services, dean of students and vice provost for student affairs at Washington State University, assistant vice chancellor for student affairs at the University of California, Riverside, and vice provost for student relations at the University of Washington.

Kristy Carter supports the Office of Special Programs' campus services. She previously worked at the World Affairs Council of Seattle, coordinating meetings and events for high-level international visitors, and as an English teacher in Japan.

Charlene Aguilar may be fresh to the Pacific Northwest and our campus, however, she has maintained a commitment to foster academic excellence among a diverse set of educational institutions throughout her career. She most recently served as a dean and director of college counseling at an independent school, yet her tenure in post-secondary institutions is significant -- focused on collaboration with university faculty and colleagues to create innovative partnerships among academic programs that link undergraduate and graduate students, parents and community to opportunities for success in higher education. She has provided leadership and administration of university-wide policies and programs at Stanford University, Santa Clara University, the University of Chicago Law School, the University of California-Santa Barbara and Harvard's Graduate School of Education for initiatives in college admission, student life, academic interdisciplinary research, fund-raising and development.
