Task Groups complete Current State assessment
Eight Roadmap Task Groups have completed their work documenting the current state of the systems that support major UW business processes. Task Groups included Finance, Facilities, Alumni/Development, Research, HR/payroll, Student, Information Management (decision support and integration), and Governance.
The completed current state document for each area covers:
- Key business processes
- System inventory
- What is working and what is not working
- Risks
- Trends and best practices
- Findings and conclusions
This is the first time this data has been collected, and it validated the emerging themes that came out of the discovery/assessment phase of the Roadmap.
This information will be used to develop the vision and action plan for the future.
I-MAC reviews final draft of Guiding Principles
The Information Management Advisory Committee (I-MAC) meeting received a draft of the Strategic Roadmap Guiding Principles for review at its December 10 meeting. The draft of 12 guiding principles was developed from initial input from I-MAC and subsequent feedback from the Roadmap Working Team and Technical Advisory Group. The committee agreed that these guiding principles will remain in draft form through the vision and action planning phases. This will enable the principles to be revised as necessary to align with the resulting vision and action plan recommendations.
Work on vision and action planning underway
Subject Area Task Groups completed documenting their vision of the systems and processes in their subject area. These documents are now being used by the Roadmap Working Team, to develop an integrated 10-year vision and action plan for all eight areas.
Task Group Sponsor interviews continue
Roadmap Working Team members have been asked to interview sponsors of each task group to elicit input on their vision for systems and processes in their subject areas. Additionally, task group sponsors were asked to consider how improvements to information management and information systems in their subject area would impact broad UW strategic goals.
