Strategic Choices for Administrative Computing

Strategic Choices for Administrative Computing was prepared April 2003 for Acting Provost David Thorud and the UW administration by then Chief Information Officer Ed Lightfoot. It analyzes the risks and benefits of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and non-ERP approaches based on research studies and experiences at the UW and peer institutions. It recommends that the university continue with the current non-ERP approach and make the incremental investments necessary to maintain the ongoing viability of the UW's legacy systems.

This recommendation was endorsed by the Information Management Advisory Committee (I-MAC, formerly I-TAC) and is the current UW strategy.
