Data Access and Roles

In order to protect sensitive data while providing uniform access to enterprise information, the Data Management Committee is currently developing clear and concise roles for access to the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). The EDW, a service offered by the Office of Information Management, consolidates data from multiple sources in support of campus wide decision-making and related information needs such as reporting, analysis, and planning.

Request Access to the EDW

Access roles to major subject areas of data are being created to follow security guidelines and principles identified in the UW Information Systems Security Policy Statement.

These roles are being created to provide fine-grained access to information, which will define privileges based on specific row and column access needs. See the Security Access and Roles Matrix for more information.

The Data Access and Roles Task Force has published its Fiscal Year End Report for July 2008 to July 2009.
