Balance@UW is an ongoing initiative that includes a comprehensive package of policies and programs designed to support UW faculty in balancing productive academic careers with satisfying personal lives.
College of the Environment
Faculty, staff and students from across the university are invited to participate in an open planning and implementation process to create a new College of the Environment at the University of Washington. Discussions and opportunities to contribute are ongoing.
Committee on the Organization of Colleges and Schools
A committee was appointed to gather information and ideas about how the organization of the University of Washington could provide the best learning environment for our students and most effectively support research, scholarship and creative work. It issued its report on Dec. 22, 2006.

Faculty Leadership Workshops
The Leadership, Communities, and Values Initiative (LCVI) and the UW ADVANCE Center for Institutional Change joined forces in 2006 to design and offer leadership workshops for deans, associate deans, department chairs and emerging leaders. The workshops began during the 2006-2007 academic year and continue to be offered this year. These workshops are modeled after ADVANCE's successful quarterly leadership workshops for department chairs and deans in science, engineering, and mathematics.
Future of Information Systems
The Future of Information Systems Task Force was appointed to examine current and future information technology needs over the next five to 10 years. It issued its report on Jan. 19, 2007.

UW Tower
A Planning Advisory Committee was appointed Oct. 26, 2006, to examine how to best use the newly acquired UW Tower properties.
