I-MAC Guiding Principles

Overview

The University of Washington's Guiding Principles articulate key values and directions for information management and administrative systems (IM/AS) that will guide implementation of the Strategic Roadmap for IM/AS, as well as all other IM/AS decision making and project implementations. The Guiding Principles provide a vital framework for all levels of decision making about IM/AS strategies, directions, and implementation across the university.

The Guiding Principles were developed by the Information Management Advisory Committee (I-MAC) with input from stakeholders across the university involved in the Strategic Roadmap effort. The development included a review of guiding principles adopted by peer institutions and of relevant literature on the topic. A final version was adopted by I-MAC at its May 14, 2008 meeting.

The Guiding Principles will be evaluated annually as part of the Strategic Roadmap review process to ensure they remain relevant and meaningful.

The Guiding Principles

The guiding principles are organized into three areas:

Information

Governance and Investment
