Who can nominate a staff member?

Anyone currently affiliated with the University of Washington - faculty, staff, or student, may nominate a staff member. You do not have to work in the same unit as the nominee or have any particular work relationship/association with him/her.

Do I have to be someone's supervisor to nominate them?

No, see above.

Do nominations have to be done on-line?

No, paper nominations and letters of support are accepted. See the instructions and downloadable forms.

Is there a limit to the number of times someone can be nominated?

Yes, only one nomination can be submitted per person or team. If more than one nomination is received, the nominators will be contacted and asked to consolidate their materials into a single packet.

Can I nominate someone for an individual award who is also part of a group nomination?

Yes, a team is considered a separate entity.

Can I check with the committee if the person I am thinking of nominating has already been nominated by somebody else?

No, and as a practical matter most nominating packets are received in the last week of the nominating period so almost all material is received at the same time. You should simply proceed with your nomination. If that person is also nominated by someone else you will be given the opportunity to consolidate your materials after the deadline.

Do letters of support have to be written by university affiliated persons?

At least two letters must come from persons currently affiliated with the university. One additional letter may come from someone outside the university.

Are extensions to the nomination deadline ever granted?

No. Because of the need to complete the selection process in a timely manner, the committee must adhere to a strict deadline. No nominations will be accepted after 5:00 pm on the closing date.
