Parents of Commuter Students Corner

IMG_8032The Commuter Commons is here to help! If your student is commuting to campus, the Commuter Commons provides a dedicated space and a variety of services for commuting students. They also arrange events throughout the year to build a strong community among students who live off campus.

At Commuter Commons, students have access to study and social areas, a kitchenette (with fridge and microwave!), day-use lockers, a changing room, peer advising, CLUE tutoring and a printing station.

Top four things your student can do while commuting to campus:

  • Sleep – catch up on those REMs they may have missed while studying
  • Study – review class notes before the big midterm
  • Make new friends – find other students who commute to campus
  • Check the Commuter Commons website (http://depts.washington.edu/hub141/) for upcoming events

If you have any questions about your student’s transition, or if they need commuting help, please feel free to contact us at commcomm@uw.edu or visit our website for resources: http://fyp.washington.edu/cc.
