Provost Cauce joined the University of Washington faculty in 1986. She is Professor of Psychology and American Ethnic Studies and has held numerous leadership positions at UW over the years, including Director of the UW Honors Program, Chair of Psychology, Executive Vice Provost, and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on adolescent development, with a special emphasis on youth ‘at-risk’. She is also active in work encouraging women and underrepresented minorities to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Read Provost Cauce’s full bio.

What is a Provost?

The Provost is the University’s Chief Academic & Budgetary Officer, responsible for overseeing the education, research, and service missions of the UW’s three campuses, as well as the University’s budget. She also works closely with the President on strategic planning, long-term decision-making, and priority initiatives like The Husky Experience.
