Tahiti: Place, Identity and Traditional Knowledge

Students in this program examine Tahitian culture and how it has been affected by French colonialism, specifically focusing on how that has created a social structure where native and non-white peoples are second class citizens in their own country.
There is also a focus on how those native and non-white cultures interact with each other. Students are encouraged to reflect on any similarities or differences there exist between these social realities and those of their native country, with a focus on how they navigate their culture and those of other minorities in the United States.
The dates of the 2020 program are TBD.
