Happy New Year from OMA&D!

Dear Alumni, Colleagues and Friends,

The past calendar year was filled with some memorable moments: an inspiring campus visit from civil rights icon John Lewis, hosting the annual Tribal Leadership Summit, Celebration and Samuel E. Kelly Distinguished Faculty Lecture, commemorating the achievements of our 2017 graduates and welcoming the most diverse incoming class in UW’s history for the second-straight fall.

We now look ahead to 2018 – a year that marks the 50th anniversary of the Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity. It is an important milestone not just for the office, but for the entire university. As we recognize this anniversary in the coming months, we also recognize that the work to advance diversity, equity and inclusion is as important today as it was in 1968.

Many of you have been a part of this 50-year legacy. Your efforts and support are essential to building a more just and equitable campus community, and for that we are grateful. We hope to see you at some of our anniversary events this year and wish you all a very happy and healthy 2018.

Sincerely,

Rickey Hall
Vice President for Minority Affairs & Diversity
Chief Diversity Officer
