Undergraduates to Present Research at 22nd Annual Pacific Northwest McNair/EIP/GO-MAP Research Conference May 15-17

McNair ConferenceThirty-eight McNair scholars from the University of Washington and seven other universities will converge on campus to participate in the 22nd annual Pacific Northwest McNair/EIP/GO-MAP Research Conference, May 15-17.

Student research in social science, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and humanities will be showcased through oral and poster presentations on Fri., May 16, from 11 a.m – 6 p.m. in Mary Gates Hall. For the fourth consecutive year, the conference will be held in conjunction with the UW’s annual Undergraduate Research Symposium.

Other conference festivities include a Graduate Recruitment Fair and welcome dinner on Thursday, along with faculty and alumni panels on Saturday. Full schedule details are available here.

Twenty-two UW students affiliated with the McNair Scholars Program, Presidential Scholars Program, Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation and Initiative for Maximizing Student Development (IMSD) will participate in the conference.

They will be joined by McNair scholars from Bemidji State University, Florida International University, Kent State University, University of Nevada at Las Vegas, University of New Hampshire, University of Northern Colorado and Portland State University.

The Ronald E. McNair Program is a federally funded TRiO program that offers graduate preparation services to low-income, first generation and underrepresented students. The conference is also co-sponsored by the Early Identification Program (EIP) for Graduate Studies and the Graduate School’s Graduate Opportunities & Minority Achievement Program (GO–MAP). Additional sponsors include IMSD, OMA&D Outreach and Recruitment, Kelly Ethnic Cultural Center and Sigma Xi.
