Fall Quarter S.M.A.R.T. Challenge to Kickoff October 17

Attention freshmen and sophomores affiliated with OMA&D student services! Now is the time gather your friends to participate in the fall quarter S.M.A.R.T. Challenge for a chance to become OMA&D’s Academic Dream Team! Register your team of 4-5 students by Oct. 12. The challenge begins on Oct. 17.

The purpose of the S.M.A.R.T. (Scholarly, Meritorious Achievement Requires Teamwork) Challenge is to engage OMA&D freshman and sophomore students in activities that promote academic, experiential, and social excellence. The challenge is a way for students to adapt study skills that include interacting with their peers to achieve their educational and career goals. Students are rewarded for working together with classmates, professors, instructors, advisors, and program staff.

In the S.M.A.R.T. Challenge, students accrue points based on class performance and an exploration of experiential learning opportunities. The winning team will share a $1,000 scholarship.

The inaugural S.M.A.R.T. Challenge was held during Spring quarter 2011. “First 5” with team members Yuriana Garcia, Candy Perez, Jeremy Perez, Munir Ibrahim and Geovanni Salas claimed first place honors.
