Today we have our boat tour in Bojo. We also have our first ride in what is called a Trotro, which is pretty much a van/taxi. This is when it gets real. By no means is the Trotro luxury, but I like it this way. Seatbelts that don’t work, and ripped up leather on the seats. But hey, at least they were leather right? I came here wanting to experience the culture in the most authentic way possible, and this is what I am talking about.
We arrive to the shore and it’s a different world. There are boats everywhere. They are huge and not your regular canoes. As we fill up the boats people are scared. But, as the boats start moving people feel more comfortable as time passes by. Chelsea and Kayla are hilarious, I’d hate to laugh but it’s all fun right now. They got that death grip on the side of the boats. We get on the beach and I realize how crazy it is. We are surrounded by water on both sides. There are huts and the housing is very simple. But there are also swings available for children 12 years and under. This gives me a sense that fun is always available, no matter the situation, I love this. As we walk down the beach it is hard not to smile. Although there is trash that fills the white sand. I think on how terrible this is and what problems Ghana has with disposing of trash. Something to think about…
