DSST (DANTES Subject Standardized Tests) information sheet
Effective 6/12/2013: Until further notice, we are no longer administering the DSST Principles of Public Speaking exam.
Please note: Although the UW Testing Center administers the DSST test as a service to the community, the University of Washington does not award credit for these exams
| OVERVIEW: | The DSST is a Prometric testing program delivered by colleges and universities throughout the United States that offers exams in the areas of Social Science, Business, Mathematics, Technology, Humanities, and Physical Science. |
| FORMAT: | All DSST exams are computer-based. |
| LENGTH: | Examinees have a maximum of 2 hours to complete the exam. |
| FEE: | There are two fees for the DSST test, one is paid directly to the DSST testing company and one is paid to the University of Washington. Both fees are paid on the day of the exam.
|
| REGISTRATION: | PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED by calling (206) 543-1171 or in person in Schmitz Hall, Room 440. Test format will be computer-based. Space is limited. |
| SCORES: | Your DSST exam scores are reported only to you, unless you request that they be sent elsewhere. If you want your scores sent to your college, you must provide the correct DSST code number of the school on your answer sheet at the time you take the exam.
Prior to taking your exam, go to www.getcollegecredit.com/search.html to find the DSST code number for the school where you would like your score report sent. If your institution is not listed, contact Prometric at getcollegecredit@prometric.com with the full name and address of the institution so a code number can be established. If no code is entered at the time of testing, Prometric will charge a $30 transcript fee to send scores to your college. Candidates testing online can receive immediate test results by viewing their unofficial score report at the end of the testing session. Test results can also be viewed at www.ibt.prometric.com/dsst by entering the username and password created when the test was taken. |
| STUDY: | Please visit the DSST test preparation website for more information. |
| ON THE DAY OF THE TEST: | The examinee must bring both test fees (see above) and valid government-issued picture identification that includes photo and signature that exactly matches the name used to register for the test.
If you arrive after the scheduled check-in time, or if you arrive without proper identification, you will not be admitted to the test. Below is a list of auxiliary testing materials that are permitted, not not permitted with DSST examinations. References Scratch Paper Electronic Devices Calculators Exam Title Calculator Allowed: |
| RETESTS: | Test-takers must wait 90 days from their last test date to retest on the same DSST title(s). Taking alternate forms of a test title does not change this policy. Any attempts to retest on the same title in less than the specified time will automatically generate an "Invalid" Score Report. This will result in the test-taker waiting an additional 180 calendar days. |
