ALEKS (assessment and learning in knowledge spaces) information sheet
Please note: Although the UW Testing Center administers the ALEKS test as a service to the community, the University of Washington does not use this exam for course placement.
|OVERVIEW:||Assessment and LEarning in Knowledge Spaces is a Web-based, artificially intelligent assessment and learning system. ALEKS uses adaptive questioning to quickly and accurately determine exactly what a student knows and doesn't know in a course.|
|LENGTH:||Since the assessment is adaptive, exam length is variable. Examinees should allow approximately 2 hours for the appointment.|
|FEE:||$45 cash or check payable to the University of Washington on test day.|
|REGISTRATION:||PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED by calling (206) 543-1171 or in person in Schmitz Hall, Room 440. Testing appointments must be scheduled at least 3 days in advance. After making the testing appointment, it is the student’s responsibility to email EWU (firstname.lastname@example.org) to request that testing information be forwarded to the UW.|
|SCORES:||Your ALEKS exam scores are available immediately.|
|STUDY:||The UW Testing Center will proctor ONLY the final assessment. All module work must be completed prior to arriving at the Testing Center. For more information, please visit the ALEKS website at http://www.aleks.com/about_aleks.|
|ON THE DAY OF THE TEST:||The examinee must bring the $45 proctoring fee, ALEKS account information (log-in and password), and one form of valid ID. Acceptable ID is your driver’s license, passport or other government-issued identification that includes your photograph and signature. You will be asked to show this identification to be admitted to the testing area.
